Leysin and Vevey Switzerland Wedding

I still have to pinch myself when I think back on the opportunity we had to photograph Rachel and Justin's wedding in Leysin and Vevey, Switzerland. It was a dream realized because we were able to travel and experience Switzerland (and later Italy), but we were also able to do it for such an incredible couple and their family. Rachel and Justin exude so much love and joy. They are the type of couple that come together for love, but also a united purpose and passion that is inspiring to witness.

Rachel's parents were living and working in Leysin, Switzerland at the time, so many of us were able to stay at the school at which they worked, the Leysin American School Belle Epoque Campus. Justin's family made the trip from India, and friends and family flew in from America. The whole campus and town was stunning with beautiful views everywhere. Justin and Rachel started their day getting ready in Leysin, then walking out to a quiet path for their first look, and then we all took a train down to Vevey, Switzerland to the All Saints Church for the ceremony. Then we even had time to walk down and take some portraits by Lake Geneva and allow Justin and Rachel to enjoy a quiet moment and snack before catching a ride back up to Leysin to the reception.

Prayers were answered and there was no rain, despite being a rainy time of year, and a rain storm the night before. The sun shone beautifully, we were able to photograph in a field of flowers surrounded by mountains, a beautiful old church, lakeside, in the old streets of Vevey, and a balcony bathed in sunset glow with the mountains in the background. Justin and Rachel blended in elements of their faith with prayers, worship, and communion. They also changed during the reception into a traditional sari and kurta, had a traditional milk tea ceremony, and delicious Indian food. Plus, they had one of the best DJs we have ever encountered, DJ Brian B., and their friends know how to light up a dance floor and have a great time! We have had the opportunity to photograph this friend group a couple times at weddings now, and I always look forward to when they hit the dance floor! We also got to work with the amazing videographer Josiah Kee of Launch AV and became quick friends and have enjoyed working together on a couple weddings since.

Rachel's passion and joy fills a room, and Justin's wisdom and kindness is forefront in his character. Together they are even more amazing bringing their gifts and talents together to bless the world. We feel so fortunate to have been able to celebrate with them and to be trusted to capture their day. Happy 1-year anniversary to one of our favorite couples!
